SSC to conduct third phase counselling on March 19 and 20

Kolkata: The School Service Commission will conduct the third phase of counselling for wait-listed candidates for recruitment of assistant teachers for Classes XI and XII in state-run schools on March 19 and 20.

The third phase counselling for wait-listed candidates for recruitment of assistant teachers for Classes IX and X will be held on March 26, 27, 28 29 and April 1. The state level selection test for recruitment of teachers was held in 2016. However, the Hill region will not come under the aegis of this counselling.

The Commission issued a notification on Friday stating that the schedule of counselling and details of vacancies will soon be made available on the School Service Commission website — www.westbengalssc.com.

The SSC chairman had announced in January that 42,000 vacant posts of teachers, non-teaching staff and Group D employees from upper primary to the higher secondary level will be filled up in various schools by March 2019.

According to a source in the Commission, the upper primary level has the highest number of vacant posts for teachers.

About 13,080 teachers are required at the upper primary level and the vacancies for Classes IX and X stands at 12,905.

"At the higher secondary level, the number of vacant posts for teachers is 5,711. There are about 1,034 vacancies for the subject of physical education, 1,099 vacancies in work education, 2,057 posts for clerks and 3,955 posts for Group D staff.

Most of the vacancies have already been filled up in the initial phases for counselling and the rest will be completed by early April," the source said.

The vacancies exclude 10 per cent that would be filled up by para-teachers as per directions of the court.
