Spurned lover jumps in front of train, commits suicide

A Class X student committed suicide by jumping in front of a rushing train at Saraihat, under the jurisdiction of Bangshihari police station.

The deceased was a resident of Bagichapur village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Harirampur police station. Police started an investigation after the incident.

Police learnt that the boy was a student of Bagichapur High School. The investigators also suspected that he killed himself after an altercation with his love-interest. The girl came to him for some discussion and was accompanied by her friend. They both started to altercate with each other and the boy threatened them to kill himself if the girl would not trust him as a life partner.

The girl denied his proposal and left the spot. The boy then jumped in front of the Howrah-Balurghat express.

Police, however, sent the body for post-mortem. "We have started an investigation. We'll interrogate the girl and his friend. We'll also interrogate the family members of both the girl and the boy," said a police officer.

However, the local residents were shocked after the incident. Both the boy and the girl were reportedly good students. "Such incidents can destroy the career of that girl. The death of that boy was really tragic and the investigators have to take up this matter very carefully," said a neighbour.

The families of the boy and the girl were not available for any comment on the incident. Both the families have assured the investigators to help them in the investigation.
