Special tuition classes by cops for youths to help them get inducted in police service
Kolkata: Taking a unique initiative to support youths from the district, West Bengal Police in North Dinajpur are organising special tuition classes for them to help get recruited in the police service itself.
This is the first time ever that such an initiative has been taken up by the police. This is a part of the community policing in North Dinajpur.
According to senior police officers, it will help a large section of people in the district as job aspirants from almost all families can opt for the opportunity to get trained to appear for the examinations to get recruited in the police force.
It may be mentioned that a large section of youths join various private educational institutions to get trained to qualify in the recruitment examinations. But there are many youths, who cannot avail the same for various reasons. The initiative of the police in North Dinajpur district has opened a gateway for such job aspirants and it will help them to bag a job in different ranks of the police.
The police have initiated the Pragati Community Development Programme in 10 police station areas in the district. At the same time "Open Learning Centres" have also been started by the police in the district for the children of different age groups from underprivileged families.
It may be mentioned that in the past seven years, the police have taken various community development programmes besides maintaining the law and order in the state.
The community development programmes have helped the people from all walks of life. Project Pranam of the Kolkata Police is there to extend support to the elderly people. Similar projects have also been started by other police Commissionerates in the state.
Moreover, both the Kolkata Police and the West Bengal Police organise football tournaments regularly to encourage youths and it has also helped many to return to the mainstream.
Recently, four football players have been sent to Germany by the police for a tour where they will learn football skills by participating in practice matches with players from a famous club in Frankfurt.
