Speaker suspends BJP MLA at Assembly
Kolkata: A BJP MLA from Bagda in North 24-Parganas was suspended for the day by Speaker Biman Banerjee, as part of disciplinary action on Monday.
Dulal Bar, who recently joined BJP from Congress, was forced out of the House by the 'Marshal', after he started protesting against the alleged attack on BJP MLA from Bongaon Biswajit Das, demanding raising a 'point of order'.
When the Speaker took his seat and was about to start the question-answer session in the state Assembly on Monday, Bar descended in the well and started shouting alleging that the ruling Trinamool congress is harassing the Opposition and jeopardising the political environment in the state. He even demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this regard.
Bar was first asked by the Speaker to go back to his seat but he didn't pay heed to the same. The Speaker then warned him, stating that it was a case of gross indiscipline and went against the proceedings of the House.
The BJP MLA continued his protest, leading the Speaker to order the 'Marshal' present in the House to take him out. Banerjee then said that he would be suspended for a day and will not be able to participate in the proceedings of the House.
Soon after Bar was taken out as per orders, he along with two other BJP MLAs – Jewel Murmu and Neeraj Jimba, sat in demonstration at the gate outside the lobby of the Assembly. Bar alleged: "There is no law and order in the state. The leaders of the Opposition are being harassed by the police and coercive action is being taken against them."
