Songs composed by CM to come out on CD before Puja

Kolkata: A CD containing songs composed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be released before the Puja. The title of the CD has not yet been decided. Banerjee has written eight songs and later composed the music. The excerpts of the lyrics from two of the songs are: "Roudra chayae sakalbelae dustu misti hanshi, roder khelae barbar phire ashi," and "Pal tol, pal tolre majhi."

Banerjee can play an electric organ and uses the instrument to compose the songs. Despite her busy schedule, she composes songs while on tour and later adds tune to them.

It may be recalled that veteran singer Dwijen Mukhopadhyay on August 25 in 2017 had released "Matri Maa" during a function at Nazrul Mancha — a CD comprising nine songs with the lyrics written by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also composed its music. Banerjee, who is proficient with the electric organ, composed the music of the songs which were sung by well-known singers. Manomoy Bhattacharya, Rupankar, Anupam Roy, Nachiketa and Sriradha Bandyopadhyay were also present at the function. "Matri Maa" became a gold disc.
