Police arrested another woman from Baruipur in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday in connection with Sonarpur dacoity and murder case.
Police said the accused Kohinoor Bibi is a resident of Baruipur in South 24 Parganas. She used to keep the arms which were used by the gang from Bangladesh on Sunday night to rob the jewellery shop at Sonarpur.
Police had earlier arrested one Manjila in this connection. A Bangladeshi national, Lablu Sardar, who was one of the eight-member gang, was also arrested along with the auto-rickshaw driver who took the miscreants to Sonarpur Station in his vehicle.
Police came to know about Kohinoor after interrogating Lablu. She had an affair with a member of the gang a few years ago and since then used to stock firearms in her house at Baruipur. On Saturday, she took the firearms from Baruipur to Basanti where the miscreants had taken shelter in the house of another arrested woman Manjila.
She was well aware of the plan that the miscreants had chalked out to commit the dacoity in the jewellery shop near Sonarpur station.
The miscreants had committed similar crimes on seven different occasion and used to flee to Bangladesh after keeping firearms in Kohinoor's house. But this time they failed.
The police have contacted the Border Security Force and sent them the photographs of the accused. The jawans are on high alert so that they cannot manage to escape to Bangladesh.
