Some teachers with vested interests are trying to malign Ekalavya Model School: CM

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday came down heavily on those who are trying to malign the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir Ekalabya Model Residential School here.
Addressing a rally, she said Ramakrishna Mission is working among the poor and the needy and "some teachers with vested interests are trying to malign Ekalavya Model School. They are spreading canards and I urge the people not to get swayed by their false propaganda," she said.
The Chief Minister further added: "They are telling people that seats in the school will be given to the children of rich families. This is absolutely false." It may be recalled that Banerjee had urged the then general secretary of RKM Swami Suhitanandaji to take over the Ekalavya Model School to train boys and girls coming from poor tribal families. Accordingly, the Backward Classes Welfare Department handed over the school to RKM. The students of this school are doing well in Madhyamik and High Secondary examinations.
Uday Murmu, a student of the said school, got highest marks in Santhali language and received an award from the Chief Minister.
RKM has set up a laboratory for the students and through programmes, the students have been taught about their rich culture and heritage. RKM has chalked out a comprehensive plan to provide best education to tribal students who are studying there.
In the past few days, some people with vested interests have tried to spread canards against some girl students and had tried to create law and order problem in the area.
