Kolkata: The Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) of the Kolkata Aiport Customs Commissionerate arrested Girish Sharma, who was earlier posted as the joint general manager (cargo) at the airport, in connection with a scam of Rs 100 crore. This is the second arrest in this connection. Sampad Narayan Mukherjee, another employee posted at Kolkata Airport, was arrested on October 12. Sources said the investigating officers came to know about involvement of Sharma from Mukherjee, who used to work as a data entry operator at Kolkata Airport. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sharma used to head the racket that had smuggled items which were seized at the airport. Sharma was posted in Kolkata for around two-and-a half years. The investigating officers suspect that there are some more persons who are involved in the racket. So the role of some other staff would also be probed.
