Sleaze racket busted, 7 held including 6 women

Kolkata: A sleaze racket was busted that was being run from a flat on Prince Anwar Shah Road on Friday, leading to the arrest of six women and a man.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-women trafficking department of the city police raided the apartment situated on the Southern fringes of the city and arrested the accused including women for their alleged involvement in the racket.

According to police, the racket has been operating from the flat for quite sometime.

Some of the policemen went to the flat posing as prospective customers and caught the accused red-handed. Police also seized liquor bottles and petty cash from the house.

Police said the sex racket had been operating from the first floor of the building and had come to know from the local sources about the illegal activities going on in the building.

According to police, among the arrested, there were some sex workers and a customer, who was found in a compromising position inside the flat, when the raid was being conducted. The investigation revealed that the arrested sex workers, aged between 24 and 30, used to visit the flat frequently. Police suspect that the women also used to visit other places in the city.
