Sleaze racket busted, 2 held

Kolkata: North 24-Parganas district police on late Sunday night busted a sleaze racket from Barasat and arrested two persons including a woman.

The district police conducted a raid at a residential apartment situated in Nabapally area on late Sunday night after receiving complaints from locals. The locals informed police about the illegal activities going on inside a flat. It was learnt that some locals had seen a youth entering the apartment of a woman after parking a car on the road. The locals called up the police station. After police reached the spot locals told them about a sleaze racket that was being operated from the flat of the woman.

Police later raided her flat and arrested the woman and the youth. Both of them were in a drunken state. According to the police, they were found in a compromising situation. The woman had introduced the youth as her husband. After a probe police came to know that the youth is not her husband.

The accused youth is a resident of Asansol who often visited the flat of the woman. Police arrested both of them and also seized the car the youth was using.

In the course of investigation, police came to know that the woman had been operating the sleaze racket from her flat for quite a long time. Police also suspect that other women and youths also used to visit her flat from various parts of the district. Police are trying to know the names of the others involved in the racket. A detailed probe has been initiated.
