Sister Nivedita's statue installed at Mother's wax museum

A wax statue of Sister Nivedita was installed at the Mother's Wax Museum in New Town on Saturday.
The statue has been installed in connection with the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita.
The Mother's Wax Museum is the only of its kind in the country and is set up on the lines of world famous Madame Tussauds museum. Wax statues of 19 personalities have been displayed at the museum which was opened in November, 2014. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had inaugurated he second phase in November, 2016.
The statue has been kept in the room along with the wax statues of great spiritual leaders that include Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada, Swami Vivekananda and Saint Teresa.
Margaret Elizabeth Noble, who was later named as Sister Nivedita, came to Kolkata in 1898 and set up her school at 16, Bosepara Lane for girls hailing from middle-class families.
Nivedita came in contact with all the important persons on 19th century in the country. She was a litterateur and was the first to translate Rabindranath's
Kabuliwala and was one of the important persons behind setting up of Basu Vigyan Mandir by Jagadish Chandra Bose. It may be mentioned that the British government will install a Blue Plaque at her house in Wimbledon on her birthday on October 28.
Wax statues of Pravas and Anuska Shetty who became famous for acting in Bahubali were installed in the cinema section.
A restaurant has been opened at the museum on Saturday too. The footfall at the museum has crossed 80,000 and has become an important tourist destination in the city.
