Simple menu marks austere meeting at Nabanna

Kolkata: Directives of the state government to cut down on avoidable expenditures came into effect during Thursday's meeting at Nabanna Sabhaghar, with a simple menu

for lunch and no floral decorations.

It may be mentioned that in the 15-point memorandum issued by the Chief Secretary on July 2, it has been stated that "only small lunch packets or simple food packets may be served in the meeting and cost of refreshment should also be restricted."

It was also stated that "the decoration and other arrangements of the venues of meetings or conferences should be simple and expenditure on them should be kept to a minimum. Ostentatious decoration of the venues of meetings,

conferences etc. shall be stopped".

Thursday's meeting at Nabanna Sabhaghar was also to discuss the issues related to cutting down on avoidable expenses.

As an austerity drive, preparation of only one type of fish was served, unlike previous meetings, in which preparations of four different types of fishes were served as there was no meat on the menu, following the carcass meat row.

This time, there was arrangement of lunch for around 475 people and there were around 1,000 food packets.
