Sibling found dead at home, cops suspect suicide

Kolkata: Two elderly persons, who were siblings, were suspected to have committed suicide between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at Kishalaya School Road area in Garfa.

According to sources, on Wednesday morning, around 11 am, a resident of a housing society called up Garfa police station and informed that occupants of one of the flat in the building identified as Partha Ganguly and Gautam Ganguly, aged between 60-65 years, are not responding.

After a while of receiving the information, a team from Garfa police station reached the housing located 10, Kishalaya School Road. Police personnel also knocked several times but nobody responded.

Having no other alternatives, police broke the door and entered the flat. After entering the flat police were stunned as they saw Partha was hanging from ceiling fan of the hall room and

Gautamis lying in a pool of blood on a bed inside an adjacent room.

After having a close look of the bodies, police found that Partha has two cut injuries on the veins of hands and one leg leading to considerable loss of blood. Also Gautam has cut injuries on the veins of his hand and legs. During search police found three blades with blood stains on those from the flat.

Local residents informed police that the siblings had no way of earning. Often they used to sell their family assets to run their daily life. Also, they did not used to interact with locals.

Since the past few years, they had almost stopped socialising. Locals suspect that the duo has committed suicide due to depression. Police suspect that Partha might had killed Gautam by cutting his veins and later he himself cut his veins.

Later, Gautam hanged himself while he was bleeding from his hands and legs.

As the nature of the siblings death were quite different, senior police officials were informed.

They have also visited the spot and questioned the neighbours.

During the search, the police found identification documents, doctor's prescriptions, nylon rope, chair and blades from the flat.

Though no complaint was received police are investigating the case seriously to find if there is any foul play. Investigators are trying to be sure that no third person has any connection with the two elder brother's death.
