SHG dept mulls real time monitoring of training programmes
Kolkata: The state Self-Help Group (SHG) and Self Employment department are planning to come up with a software for real time monitoring of the training programmes undertaken by the department at various places in the district.
"We want to develop the infrastructure for real time monitoring of the various schemes of the department, particularly the training programmes of the SHG's. I have instructed my officers to develop a software for this purpose," said Sadhan Pande, minister for SHG & SE.
The minister recently held a meeting with the officials of his department and other senior district officials of West Burdwan, East Burdwan, Birbhum, Purulia and Bankura in Asansol to monitor the projects and ongoing training programmes. He stressed the need for integration of the various programmes undertaken by the department.
It may be mentioned that West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation Ltimited under the SHG department has been providing training to the SHG members in various fields like tailoring, goatery, poultry, floriculture, hospitality management, handicrafts, jute crafts, food products, computer application, mushroom cultivation and beautician courses among others.
He urged the district magistrates of the five districts to look for land at strategic locations so that the 'Karmatirtha's are visited by most number of people. It may be mentioned that from August 2014, the state government with a view to promote sustainable entrepreneurship and generate employment, had started setting up 'Karmatirtha' — a one-stop shop allowing entrepreneurs to market their products directly to buyers. The State government provides requisite infrastructure support, including training and finance, allowing individuals, Self-Help Groups, cooperative enterprises, artisans and weavers to avail the benefits of the scheme.
He further instructed his officials to speed up the work of the ongoing projects and come up with new project proposals so that more number of people can avail the benefits. Pande, who is also in charge of the state Consumer Affairs department, inaugurated the circuit bench of West Bengal State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in Asansol.
