SFI rally leads to traffic congestion in Central Kol

Kolkata: A scuffle broke out between the police and SFI supporters on Rani Rashmoni Avenue following a rally from Sealdah Station led to massive traffic congestion in the central business district on Thursday afternoon.
The SFI supporters were protesting against the decision to introduce students' council.
The rally started from Sealdah Station and movement of the vehicles slowed down as the rally proceeded towards Rani Rashmoni Avenue.
The situation turned worse when they attempted to break the security barricades and march ahead towards Raj Bhavan. But the police didn't allow them to go ahead and it led to a scuffle leaving two injured.
Police continued asking the supporters to maintain peace in the area using public addressing system. They assured that their representatives will be allowed inside the Raj Bhavan to submit the deputation.
A delegation of six was allowed to go while the SFI supporters continued the sit-in-demonstration till the delegation returned.
Commuters were harassed as there was traffic congestion due to the rally and they demanded that no rallies should be allowed in the city on any weekdays.
Bidisha Dey, a housewife, said that she was late in picking up her son from school.
