Sex racket busted in New Town, five men arrested
Kolkata: Bidhannagar Police has busted a sex racket in New Town on Saturday night and arrested five persons. Six girls have also been recovered.
According to the police, the sleuths received information about some suspicious activity going on in a flat at DF block since the last few days. While gathering facts, the police came to know about several men and women who could be seen entering the flat at night.
On Saturday night, the sleuths got a tip off that several men and women were seen entering the flat.
Immediately, a police team consisting of lady police personnel led by Animesh Roy, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Zone I, Airport Division of Bidhannagar Police raided the flat on the third floor at DF 35 and found five men in a compromising state with some young women.
The five men identified as Diganta Bora, Shiba Kumar, Shubhendu Mondal, Arjun Halder and Pradip Roy were arrested and the young
women recovered.
During a search operation, the sleuths recovered cash around Rs. 2,200, a packet full of emergency contraceptive pills and 55 condoms. Later, police initiated a case against the men arrested on charges of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act. Sources informed that the flat was taken on hire. The police is yet to locate the owner. The main culprit is yet to be identified. It is suspected that the flat might have been given on rent through some broker. The sleuths are trying to locate the broker who might know about the person
who hired the flat.
