Seven held for duping man over Bitcoin deal

Kolkata: Seven persons were arrested from different parts of North and South 24-Parganas in connection with a case, in which an employee of a Mumbai-based company was cheated in Salt Lake, following a Bitcoin deal.
One of the seven accused was arrested earlier. The other six were arrested by conducting raids on Tuesday, based on his statement.
The accused persons are Ghanashyam J Mistry alias Rupesh, Lakshman Mondal from Sonarpur, Tapas Biswas and Abanis Majumdar alias Gighnes from Hridaypur near Barasat in North 24-Parganas, Snehasish Mukherjee alias Asish Roy alias Amit Jain, Shib Sankar Das alias Rahul Das alias Ashok Roy and Bulbul Sheikh from Madhyamgram.
Shib Shankar was the mastermind of the entire operation and he had chalked out the plan to cheat the employee of the Mumbai-based company in the name of a deal between two companies.
It was on January 11 when Shantanu Sharma, who is a resident of Vivekpuri, New Delhi and works with the Pisces Group of Companies at Andheri East in Mumbai, had lodged a complaint with the Bidhannagar Police, alleging that the miscreants had taken away Rs 61.85 lakh from him when he went there for a business deal. Police had initiated a case on charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating. They have started a probe and came to know that a gang from both North and South 24-Parganas was behind the crime.
