Security guard commits suicide

Kolkata: Proloy Banerjee (60), a resident of B B Sengupta Road in Behala who worked as a security guard for a house at CE block in Salt Lake, was found dead inside the garage on Wednesday morning.

Locals called up the police station after they got a foul smell coming out of the house.

After being informed police rushed to the spot and recovered the body in presence of the relatives of the deceased.

After starting a probe, police came to know that the victim had been posted for past six months as a security guard at the house. The owner of the house Sudhangshu Basu has not been staying at the house for sometime and the victim used to look after the building.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect the victim had been suffering from mental depression. Police found the victim lying on the floor of the garage. Police collected some samples from the garage where the body was found.

During interrogation locals told police the behaviour of the deceased was not normal and he used to remain mentally disturbed for weeks. According to police, there were apparently no injuries on his body.

The body has been sent for an autopsy the result of which might throw some light on his death. Sarbari chowdhury, daughter of Basu, reached the spot from her in-laws house at Lake Gardens after she came to know about the incident. Police have started a detailed probe in this regard.
