School teacher dies after truck hits him on National Highway-6

A school teacher came under the wheels of a speeding truck on National Highway-6 at Uluberia on early Wednesday morning. Police learnt that the victim became father of a baby girl just ten days ago.

It may be recalled, on Tuesday, a motorcyclist collided with a road divider on National Highway-6 at Joduberia and later succumbed to his injuries.

Police learnt that Partha Sarathi Sarkar, the middle-aged man was standing there at Nimdighi bus stand while the killer truck knocked him down. Sarkar died at the spot and the police took the body to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Police also learnt that the deceased was a resident of Egra. He was the teacher of Uluberia Samruk High School. He was standing there to get a bus to reach Egra. He was in a hurry for some reason when the truck driver lost control over the wheels and hit him.

In a bid to control the truck, the driver entered into a roadside tea-shop. The driver escaped from the spot leaving his vehicle. Police seized the truck and raids are on to book the driver. A case has been initiated in the Uluberia Police Station.

However, the district police later came to know that Sarkar became father of a baby girl just ten days ago and was in a hurry to reach home to spend time with his daughter.

In Tuesday's incident, Bhaskar Das, the biker, was trying to exhibit his skills to some of his friends. But he lost control and collided with the divider on the National Highway. He was taken to a hospital but declared brought dead and a few of his friends were also injured.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is very much concerned over the issues of road accidents. She instructed the police administration to take necessary steps to curb accidents. The state government also started a campaign Safe Drive, Save Life to instill awareness among drivers and pedestrians.
