Santu Mukherjee passes away
Kolkata: Veteran Bengali actor Santu Mukherjee breathed his last at his residence on Wednesday. The 69-year-old had been suffering from several ailments in the recent past.
Mukherjee was rushed to a private hospital in the city on February 4 night due to breathing issues. The news of his demise has made a pall of gloom descend upon the Tollywood fraternity.
Actors Madhabi Mukhopadhyay, Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Koushik Ganguly and Bidipta Chakraborty expressed condolence following Mukherjee's death.
The actor, who had over 100 films to his credit, was also a mainstay in the Tollywood soap and serial industry in recent years.
His notable works include Sansar Simante, Raja, Chander Kachhakachhi, Shesh Raksha, Prafulla, Bhalobasa Bhalobasa and many other critically acclaimed films. He is survived by his daughters Swastika and Ajopa Mukherjee.
