S Dinajpur to crack down on violators of restrictions
BALURGHAT: In view of the rising threat of Coronavirus outbreak in the state, local administration and police will impose the order of lockdown strictly in South Dinajpur.
The move comes a day after a group of people was found loitering for no purpose, violating the direction. District Magistrate Nikhil Nirmal said any person violating the regulations will be punished under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience of an order which includes imprisonment or fine or both).
A high-level meeting was also conducted in presence of Nirmal with high ranked administrative, police and health officials and members of district chamber of commerce and bank authority regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, the district administration as per direction of the state notified complete safety restrictions from 1700 hours of March 23 to midnight of March 31 for the entire district. "As per ruling, there has been a total suspension of all public transport, shutdown of commercial establishments, shops and offices. Most factories, restaurants and bars have been asked to close down and suspend operation during the period. Shops selling vegetables, fish, meat and other consumables will remain open.
