Rose Valley investors ransack hotel at Minto Park

Investors of the Rose Valley group ransacked valuables inside a hotel at Minto Park as they didn't get back their money that they had invested through different chit fund schemes of the group.
A large contingent of police from Ballygunj, Shakespeare Sarani and Park Street was pressed to bring the situation under control. Deputy Commissioner of South Division Praveen Tripathi and Deputy Commissioner of South East Division Gaurav Sharma also went to the spot.
Seven persons were detained while rest of the mob was dispersed. A police officer came to know that the investors had gone to the group's chief Gautam Kundu and met him in correctional home on July 5. He had asked them to meet the officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to get back their money. A section of investors went to the central investigating agencies where their statements were recorded.
They told the police that the counsel of Kundu had asked them to meet him at the hotel. Around 400 to 500 investors had gathered outside the hotel with an expectation that they will be getting back their money.
The situation turned worse when no one met them in the hotel on Thursday. After waiting for a few hours, they started damaging valuables at the reception and lobby of the hotel.
The policemen went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
