Roof top solar system at Asutosh college

Strengthening further the solar power infrastructure in the city, the state Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay on Monday inaugurated a 20 kW roof top solar system at Asutosh College. This is a part of the 'Aloshree' project taken up by the state Health department under which solar panels are being fitted up on the roof top of various school and colleges throughout the state.

The present state government has laid a stress on the development of solar power as an alternative source of energy. The primary objective of this initiative is to help the schools and colleges to produce their own power through solar projects. This also reduces the electricity bills of various educational institutions. The state Power department has also started solar projects on the roof top of various government buildings at a large scale.
