RKM Asansol upgrades Vocational training centre to ITI
Kolkata: The Asansol centre of Ramakrishna Mission has upgraded its vocational training centre to an ITI.
Swami Suviranandaji, general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, inaugurated the ITI at a function held in Asansol.
In vast areas across West Burdwan district, rapid industrialisation has taken place. To cater to the industries, there is a demand for young people with technical skills. RKM runs two ITIs — one at Belghoria and another at Belur.
Both are in high demand because of high-quality teaching. The vocational training school in Asansol was also famous for quality education and its upgradation to an ITI will benefit the
students immensely.
Swami Somatmananda, secretary of Asansol Ramakrishna Mission, said ISCO, Burnpur, has provided financial assistance to upgrade the vocational training school. A new building has been constructed where classes will be held. RKM Asansol runs a free coaching centre for children coming from economically challenged families.
The classes are held from 7am to 9am. The students are brought to the centre in buses provided by the RKM.
Besides academic coaching, the children are given training in music, yoga, drill and sports. Moloy Ghatak, state Labour minister, who is a former pupil of Rakamrishna Mission School, Asansol, has organised the buses that are used for transporting the students.
Swami Smaranandaji, president of Rakamrishna Math and Mission, inaugurated a temple at the Asansol centre. Thousands of devotees were present at the consecration ceremony.
