Retired headmaster held over fake job racket

Kolkata: The Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station has arrested a person for allegedly duping several youths under the pretext of providing them jobs in primary schools.

According to the police, accused Mosharof Ali retired as a headmaster from a primary school in South 24-Parganas. He has been remanded to 5-day police custody by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), Bidhannagar.

Sources informed that on Thursday Ranjit Roy, a resident of Basanti in South 24 parganas, lodged a complaint with the police stating that he had given Rs 40 thousand to Ali, who promised him a job in a primary school. Roy was called in front of Bikash Bhavan to hand over the money. On reaching the said spot, Roy was asked to give the money. As soon as Ali got the money, he dashed off from the spot instantly. Having no other way, Roy sought help from a traffic police personnel nearby. He reached Bidhannagar North police station and told about the incident. Roy informed that he found Ali's contact from a website. Upon hearing this, he was advised to contact the Cyber Crime Police Station.

Immediately, police started to probe. Some police personnel along with Roy went to Bikash Bhavan area to search for Ali. As they were about to step back after almost an hour after, Roy noticed the culprit. Immediately Ali was intercepted and brought to the police station. Following a thorough search of his belongings, investigators found Rs 46,000 in cash, fake interview letters, fake website related and other documents. In some documents, the names of few more victims were found.
