Record footfall of pandal-goers at Sealdah Stn
Kolkata: The Sealdah division of Eastern Railway experienced a record rush of Puja pandal-hoppers during Durga Puja this year. At Sealdah station, the footfall from Chaturthi to Saptami (October 13 to 16) recorded 6,12,136 which is 12.1 percent more than the previous year's statistics of 5,46,260 passengers during the same period. "This has resulted in a sharp increase in window sale earning at Sealdah Station that registered Rs 1,19,82,400 which is 27.9 percent more than Rs 93,68,030 earned during corresponding Puja days of the previous year," a spokesperson said. The total number of passengers during this period stood at 72,72,796 which is 9.4 percent more than the previous year's footfall of 66,45,800. This has resulted in an increase in ticket booking earnings to Rs 6,89,92,997 which is 8.1 percent more than Rs 6,38,11,226 earned during the corresponding period (Chaturthi to Saptami) of the previous year.
