Rajnath to meet CMs of eastern states

Kolkata: Union Home minister Rajnath Singh will hold a meeting at Kolkata on October 1 with Chief Ministers of the states from the eastern region of the country, including Bengal.

The meeting will be held at Nabanna Sabhaghar, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be present. Sources said that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues related to the security of the eastern region of the country.

It may be recalled that a similar meeting was held on December 7 in 2017 at Nabanna Sabhaghar, where Chief Ministers of Bengal, Assam, and Mizoram were present. The meeting was also attended by senior bureaucrats of Meghalaya and Tripura. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, was also present in the meeting.

Chief Ministers and senior officials of all the states in the eastern region will be attending the meeting. Senior officials of the state government have started making all necessary preparations for the same.

Various issues related to the security of the country will be discussed. Chief Ministers of all the states in the eastern region will bring up the security related issues in their respective states. Following discussion with the Chief Ministers and senior officers of the states, the Centre would take necessary steps in coordination with the state governments.
