Rajdhani Express undergoes trial run of push pull operation
Kolkata: Eastern Railway conducted a trial run of push pull operation of Rajdhani Express for faster movement of the train. WAP 7 train engine was used at the front and rear of the rake at a speed of 130km per hour in Howrah New Delhi route. The trial run of empty Rajdhani rake was held at Howrah station at 8.35 am and the train ran from Howrah to Gaya.
This push pull operation of Rajdhani Express run by two engines will provide faster acceleration and deceleration resulting in projected saving in run time by 90 minutes in Howrah- New Delhi section.
The trial run of push pull operation was conducted under the supervision and guidance of the testing team of RDSO, Lucknow. It is a major step in augmenting the speed of the train. The engine in the front is called the master Loco while that on the rear is called the Slave Loco.
Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Eastern Railway and other senior officers were present at Howrah station.
