Rainfall likely across Bengal in next 2 days
Kolkata: The Regional Meteorological Center at Alipore on Wednesday predicted rainfall in various South Bengal districts over the next 48 hours due to the impact of another western disturbance.
With the western disturbances gaining in strength the occasional rainy spells in Bengal even in March has not subsided. Both South Bengal and North Bengal districts have witnessed intermittent rainfall over the last 15 days.
However, there was a slight rise in temperature over the past two days in South Bengal with the city staying dry on Holi. The people in the city were expecting a further rise in the temperature but a fresh prediction of rainfall in some parts of South Bengal paves the way for the mercury to dip by some notches.
There is likely to be no major changes in the temperature following the rainfall except an occasional fluctuation in the lowest temperature. During the night, people may experience colder weather. Apart from South Bengal, some North Bengal districts may also receive rainfall as predicted by the weather office. The mercury may go up after the rainy spell is over on Friday.
"A western disturbance has entered the north-west Himalayan region leading to some changes in the weather system in various states including Bengal from Thursday. The intermittent rainy spell may last till Friday following which the temperature is expected to rise. Various North and north-western states including Jammu and Kashmir have already seen some changes in the weather due to the impact of the western disturbances. Some of the Central Indian states and also the north-eastern states may also receive rainfall," a weather official said.
