Rain lashes city, flights & trains disrupted

Kolkata: Flight and rail services were affected following a thunder storm that hit the city and the districts on Thursday evening.
The incident also led to the slow traffic movement in the city and the suburban areas. Rain accompanied by strong wind lashed the South Bengal districts. This had brought the temperature down by a few notches giving respite to the city dwellers from scorching summer heat.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore, people in the city and district will again feel the sultry and discomfort weather on Friday afternoon.
The weather office also predicted that there is a possibility of rain and thundershower in the evenings of the next
few days.
There was a delay in landing of around 6 flights at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Thursday evening.
The operations of other flights were affected due to the sudden storm and rain that lashed the city at around 6.30 pm. According to the weather office, hail storm was reported in some of the North Bengal districts. Train services were affected in Howrah-Kharagpur section and Sealdah South section for a while in the evening. Some local trains were stranded due to strong wind blowing at the speed of around 40-80 km/hr. Trains services resumed after an hour.
