Railway Board Chairman reviews performance

A K Mital, Chairman, Railway Board reviewed the performance of Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway, Metro Railway and Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) at a high-level meeting this morning.

The general managers of Eastern, South Eastern & Metro Railways were present along with the principal officers of these three Railways, held at SE Railway's headquarters at Garden Reach.

The CRB reviewed the performance of Eastern Railway in respect of passenger carrying, freight loading, cleanliness, safety, punctuality etc. He appreciated the efforts of ER in maintaining punctuality in spite of many difficulties. It may be mentioned here that, Eastern Railway is known as passenger friendly and passenger carrying Railway. It carries 33 lakh passengers daily and runs nearly 2,000 trains.

Later, CRB addressed GMs and all the officers of Eastern, South Eastern and Metro Railways. Mital has advised that railway employees should always display devotion in their duties likewise their hard work at the time of crisis situation like accidents and derailments. He praised the Railwaymen for working day and night maintaining one of the largest Railway system of the world.

Mital also inspected the site of East-West Metro tunnel at Howrah Maidan in presence of Satish Kumar, managing director, KMRC and Addl GM, Eastern Railway.
