Quack stabbed to death by deceased's family members

A quack doctor from Mosimpur area of Kaliachak was stabbed to death by a father and his son, neighbours of the victim triggering tension among the locals.

Following the incident, an irate mob ransacked the house of the accused and set it on fire. The accused are absconding since the incident happened on late Saturday night.

A huge police contingent rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. A police picket has been set up in the area to check any untoward incident. Police said the victim, Obaidullah Seikh (28) a quack, had been treating people for some time now.

Nijamuddin Seikh, also a resident of the same village and a labourer, took his wife Tajmira Bibi to the quack few months ago.

After treating the victim for sometime, the victim told Seikh to take his wife to Malda Medical College and Hospital as she was suffering from some critical ailment and it was not possible for the quack to cure her.

It was alleged that the family members of the woman did not take her to the hospital and used to pressurise the quack for treating her.

After being forced by the family members of the woman, the victim continued her treatment.

But two days ago the quack told the family members that it would not be possible for him to treat her as she had developed serious complications. Nijamuddin and his son Babar Ali finally took the victim to Malda Medical College and Hospital where she died on Saturday.

After the death of the woman, Nijamuddin and Babar stormed into the chamber of the victim and stabbed him several times.

They also allegedly shot the victim to ensure his death. The accused fled the spot before the locals reached there.

The victim was declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital. The locals then ransacked the house of the accused.

Police have started a probe and raids are being conducted to nab the accused.
