PWD prepares feasibility report for Vivekananda Road Flyover
Kolkata: The state Public Works Department (PWD) is preparing a feasibility report for the strengthening of the already constructed portion of the Vivekananda Road Flyover. It may be recalled that a portion of the said flyover had collapsed on March 31, 2016, killing 27 people. Subsequently, the state government had set up a committee to take the final decision on the future of the under-construction flyover. IIT Kharagpur was also assigned to undertake a study before the final decision could be taken. In its report, the IIT had highlighted the outcome of the flyover if it's not pulled down. It also mentioned the result if it is completely brought down. Subsequently, suggestions of two Central agencies were sought in this connection. Before the final decision is taken, the state PWD is going for preparation of the feasibility report. A senior PWD official said tenders in this connection have been issued to station "consultancy service for preparation of feasibility and project report for retro-fitting or strengthening of the already-constructed portion of Vivekananda Road Flyover in Kolkata and supervision consultancy during execution."
