Puja grant: SC to hear plea against govt's decision

Kolkata: The Supreme Court will hear the appeal challenging the state government's decision to give grant of Rs 10,000 to Durga Puja committees on Friday.

This comes after the Calcutta High Court disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the same and stated that the Court had decided not to interfere into the matter.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced the state government's decision to give the grant of Rs 10,000 to each of the 28,000 Durga Puja committees in a programme at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
