Public & private procurement a must for MSME: Alapan

Kolkata: Additional Chief Secretary of the state Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) department Alapan Bandopadhyay stated that public and private procurement is very much necessary for MSME to survive.

On Wednesday, during a conclave organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I), Bandopadhyay said: "Public and private procurement is extremely critical for the survival of the MSME." He also launched the centre of excellence web-portal www.msmesupports.com.

During the conclave, Bandopadhyay acknowledged the role of BCC&I and stated that the state government is actively associated with their endeavours. During the annual general meeting of BCC&I held in September, a MoU was signed between them and the Indo German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), about starting a centre of excellence for MSME, which would help the sector in Bengal to identify suitable technology partners from Germany.

Bandopadhyay further said, "The Bengal Chamber is indeed taking a lead and pivotal role in the MSME sector. Its core strength, particularly in the MSME sector, is extremely well recognised. The manufacturing subcommittee is working very hard. IGCC has done us all very proud in associating itself with BCC&I. The government of Bengal has been actively associated with all endeavours of BCCI. We look forward to further such great lead."
