Press Club organises workshop on digital media

Kolkata: Kolkata Press Club organised a hands-on training on digital media for journalists on Thursday.

The workshop offered attendees valuable insights into the current trends of online/social media and its impact on the society, as the experts shared their knowledge with working journalists and media students through PowerPoint presentations and focused on the production of high-impact reporting.

"We have been conducting the digital media workshop for the last three years. The main objective of conducting

the workshop is to give journalists a comprehensive understanding of digital media in terms of both the content and technical part," said Snehasis Sur, president of Kolkata

Press Club.

The workshop on Digital Media had two sessions, where the first session focused on 'Content in Digital Media: Its Changes from Traditional Media Platforms' especially planned for those who already have changed and/or who are going to shift from traditional media to digital media.

The second session, meanwhile, was on 'Cyber Security and Cyber Laws Relevant to Journalists'.

"Internet has changed the behaviour of news consumption. Journalists should reinvent themselves for the digital age. At the time of writing articles and filing stories for online media, one should be aware about the trending stories, coherent content structure and keywords," said Samrat Mukherjee, digital media specialist of Crow's Nest Digital Agency.

Bivas Chatterjee, special public prosecutor, Cyber Laws, also highlighted the points to be kept in mind while filing stories.
