Preparatory meeting held for BGBS 2019

Kolkata: A preparatory meeting for the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2019 was held on Monday.

In 2019, BGBS is scheduled to be held on February 7 and 8. There were discussions on various aspects of the business summit at the meeting held at Nabanna Sabhaghar, in which senior officials of the Industry department were present.

Sources said that the preparation for the summit starts a few months before it is scheduled to take place. It was in 2015 when the summit was organised for the first time and the venue of the mega event was Milan Mela ground till 2017. In 2018, the business summit was organised for the first time at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. In 2019 also, BGBS will be organised at the same venue.

Representatives of many countries attend the summit. More than 4,000 delegates from different parts of India and 32 countries were present in the summit. Japan, Germany, Italy, Poland, Republic of Korea, France, Czech Republic, UK and UAE were the Partner Countries. There were delegations from Europe, America and Asia as well.

Every year, there used to be a road show at different places for promotion of the business summit. Sources said that there were discussions to identify the places where road shows will be organised for BGBS 2019 and to determine if they will take place abroad as well.

It may be mentioned that there are several aspects that need to be looked after, to ensure successful completion of the summit and many departments of the state government work together to organise the same. It has been learnt that there was also discussions about better coordination between all the concerned departments. There will be many more meetings to finalise all the issues related to BGBS 2019, said an official.
