Police seize unidentified drone near Indo-Bangla border
Darjeeling: At the time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is visiting the districts of North Bengal, an unidentified drone flew into Tawajot near the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Siliguri sub-division, thereby sending security agencies into a tizzy. The drone was later seized by the police.
"On Monday night, residents of Tawajot spotted a drone hovering around the area. They informed us and we recovered the unidentified drone. The area is 5 km away from Bangladesh (aerial distance). We have initiated an investigation," stated a police officer of Phansidewa police station.
Other security and intelligence agencies have also been informed about the drone, which is believed to have been operated from Bangladesh. CID and BSF personnel visited the spot and interrogated the residents.
On Tuesday, the CM's security cordon was breached twice. En route to Changrabandha, an elderly farmer, breaking the security cordon, rushed at her cavalcade at Gosla More and handed over a letter to her. In the letter, Rajen Rai, the farmer, requested the CM to resolve the drinking water problem of the Paharpur area.
In another incident, a cyclist broke the CM's security cordon and got into the CM's entourage in Changrabandha, when she was driving towards the venue of the administrative meeting.
