Pervert arrested for flashing private parts to girl in moving toto

A 35-year-old man was arrested for showing his private parts to a school girl while travelling in a toto at Belur in Howrah on Friday morning.

Police said the accused Kaushik Karmakar, a resident of Anandanagar in Howrah, was arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by the Class IX student.

A police officer said the girl boarded the toto from Badamtala in Bally and she was about to go to Salkia for her tuition at around 8 am on Friday. The girl was sitting on the rear seat of the toto and there were no other passengers in the battery operated vehicle. The accused boarded the toto near Rashbari and was sitting facing the 15-year-old girl.

The situation took a bad turn after the toto crossed Belur Math stoppage. The girl told the police that he had been making different obscene gestures at her. She tried to ignore him considering that it would create trouble if she tells him anything for his misbehaviour. But the youth crossed all limits and exposed his private parts to her in the moving toto.

The girl found herself in a helpless condition. By that time the toto reached near Liluah Station Road and girl started crying for help finding some on-duty policemen nearby. Finding the girl crying and pointing her finger at the toto, the policemen realised that there was something wrong with the passenger travelling in the vehicle.

The driver of the toto is a neighbour of the victim girl and he also stopped the toto and waited as soon as the girl jumped off the vehicle.

Realising that he would get caught, the youth attempted to flee. The police and the driver of the toto chased and caught him. He was taken to Belur Police station. The police took statement of the girl and helped her go back home as she was traumatised.
