Part of building caves in

A portion of a century-old building on Rajendralal Street in Manicktala caved in on Friday afternoon.

This is the second incident of its kind in this week. Two persons had died when a portion of the old

building on Indian Mirror Street fell on them on Wednesday. Two people were injured and taken to Calcutta medical College and Hospital in today's incident. Meanwhile, workers of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) have started clearing the rubbles. A portion of the three-storeyed building collapsed on Friday afternoon. More than six people were trapped. Attracted by loud noise, local people informed fire brigade and police. Firefighters came and rescued the trapped inmates. Two people sustained major injuries and were taken to the hospital. Police have cordoned off the area allowing the civic workers to clear the debris.
