One held from Ekbalpore for murdering wife

Kolkata: Police have arrested one Seikh Sahazada from Ekbalpore on charges of murdering his wife.

The family members of the victim, Seerat Parveen (28), lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Sahazada used to torture her both physically and mentally since their marriage in 2008.

The victim was taken to a private hospital by her husband Sahazada at around 9.40 pm on Friday.

The victim was declared brought dead by the doctors. There were injury marks around her neck.

He told the doctors that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan with the help of her dupatta.

The family members of the victim, however, told police that her husband killed her and later hanged her body in such a way that it appears to be a case of suicide.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of the victim, police have started a case and arrested him. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.

Police are waiting for post mortem report, which might some throw light on the death of the victim.

It was alleged that the husband used to beat up the woman ever since their marriage took place.

Some locals also told the police that she had been subjected to both mental and physical torture by her husband. Police are yet to confirm if the victim committed suicide or there was any foul play behind the death

of the victim.
