One held for posing as agent trying to dupe Bidhannagar man of insurance documents

Bidhannagar City Police on Friday arrested a person on charges of cheating. The accused person tried to dupe a Bidhannagar resident by taking his LIC documents claiming himself to be an authorised agent.

But the policy holder grew suspicious and called up police to inquire. Later, the police arrested the accused on the basis of the complaint.

Subrata Ghosh, the policy holder was almost convinced by the fake LIC agent that he should surrender his policy to him. Ghosh had also decided to give him the papers but he grew suspicious over the accused's behaviour.

"Ghosh called up the police and we started the investigation. We interrogated the person and found that the person is nothing but a cheater," said an investigator.

"On the basis of the complaint, the accused Bamapada Dule was arrested," the investigator added.

Incidents of duping people for money have risen considerably in the city. Many Bidhannagar residents were cheated by some phone calls demanding to know their bank details claiming themselves as bank customer care executives. The city police took prompt action and arrested the accused behind the incidents.

"In this case we found that Bamapada was not an LIC agent. He was trying to dupe Subrata Ghosh. He had almost succeeded but the police ultimately caught him." the officer said.
