One held for assaulting woman at workplace

Kolkata: A person was arrested on Thursday after one of his colleagues filed a molestation and sexual harassment complaint against him at Thakurpukur police station.

Later on Friday, he was produced before a city court from where he got an interim bail.

According to the complainant, she used to work at real estate company for past 4-5 years. While working under the accused, the complainant recently noticed a change in his behaviour, who holds the post of marketing director at the company. On last Monday, she went to his chamber to talk about her work. "First of all, he denied to talk. Then suddenly got up from his chair and touched me in an inappropriate way. He tore my dress as well. The door was closed and I had to use force to get out from there," said the complainant. She also alleged that her colleagues remained silent after knowing the incident.

Later, she informed her superiors as well but it yielded no result. She also alleged that she was asked to leave the job.

On Thursday, she went to Thakurpukur police station and filed a complaint against her superior. After getting the complaint, police immediately arrested the accused on charges of sexual harassment, use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe and word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman. After being produced before the magistrate, the accused was granted an interim bail with a clause to appear before the investigating officer as directed by the court.
