Darjeeling: A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper suffered bullet injuries on his chest on Wednesday while on duty.

The incident occurred at around 10 am at Goalpokhar block, Islampur, Uttar Dinajpur district on the Indo-Bangladesh border when he was on duty.

Two bullets is said to have pierced his chest. The injured, 26-year-old Prem Singh of Punjab was rushed to the Islampur Hospital. As his condition was reported to be critical, he was referred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri.

Though BSF officers were present at the Islampur Hospital,
