Non-resident Indian chalks out scheme to provide healthcare, education to poor
Kolkata: Deb Prasanna Choudhury, a non-resident Indian has chalked out an elaborate scheme to provide healthcare and education to the underprivileged along with environment care in Bengal.
The healthcare centre in Bolpur has specialist doctors. Over 200,000 patients have been treated in the past 20 years free of cost.
Laboratory and diagnostic services are being provided to the patients. Mobile medical units have also been set up to provide healthcare in the villages. For the students studying between classes V and XII free coaching centres have been set up where experienced teachers provide quality education. A computer centre has been set up which provided high quality computer diploma courses and professional training courses.
Tailoring school provides free training courses of one year duration to poor and destitute women to make them self-reliant. Training are also given to students pursuing professional examinations. Massive tree plantation is being carried in areas surrounding
