Separate road accidents kill two, injure 39

T Two persons died while 39 others were injured in two separate road accidents in the state on Monday.
In the first incident, a 40-year-old man was killed after being hit by a speeding truck. The victim, Md Bhoktar, was hit by truck near Metiabruz on Monday afternoon. The victim had a business of selling garments.
The witnesses told the police that the victim was crossing the road when a speeding truck lost its control and hit him. The victim had received severe injuries
all over his body. The local residents rushed to the spot and took the victim to a nearby hospital but he was pronounced brought dead by the doctors.
After being informed, police reached the spot and they have arrested the helper while the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot after the accident. The incident had triggered tension in the locality and there was a traffic jam in the area following the accident.
In another incident, a person whose identity is yet to be ascertained was killed when a bus collided head on with a truck near Raigung in North Dinajpur. The incident
took place near Soarui More early on Monday morning. Among the injured persons there are two children and four women. All the injured passengers were taken to Raigung hospital. Some of the injured persons are stated to be in serious condition.
Local residents took part in rescue operation initially and took the injured passengers to the hospital. Police reached the spot and started an investigation. Police suspect that the driver of any of the two vehicles might have fallen asleep at the time of the accident.
The local people staged demonstration in front of the police protesting against reckless driving. The agitation was later lifted after police gave them assurances that action would be taken against the drivers flouting traffic norms.
