Dead body of youth found in a box in Burdwan

Mystery shrouds the death of a youth whose body was found packed inside a box. The incident had triggered tension at Andal in Burdwan after the body was recovered from a house.

The local people informed the police after they got foul smell coming out of the house. The victim had been missing from last Friday.

Police said that the youth used to stay as a tenant at the house of one Lalmati Debi, an widow for quite some time. In the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim had developed an illicit relationship with the landlady. Some other sources are also saying that the victim youth married the widow and the in-laws of Lalmati had objected to the marriage.

Police suspect that Lalmati's brother-in-law might have murdered the victim and packed the body inside a box. Police suspect so because her brother-in-law had been absconding since the incident had taken place.

The victim Debananda Bauri (35) was originally a resident of Jharkhand. In the course of investigation, police came to know that Debananda had developed an affair with the woman in 2009 after her husband died and the victim had assured her that he would provide her job.

Police are investigating if they got married. Some local people told the police that he married Lalmati in 2012 and fathered two children. The woman also got a job

in 2013. Police have held Lalmati for interrogation. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
