Partially Mutilated body of youth recovered from pond in Kolaghat

Police recovered a person's body in a pond at Kolaghat on Sunday morning. The body was partially mutilated and there were some injury marks. The investigators suspect that the youth was killed elsewhere, but his body was dumped here in the pond. Local residents spotted the youth's body floating on the pond's water. The deceased was dressed in a black pant and white and black striped t-shirt. Local residents called the police to recover the body.

The officer has sent the body for post mortem. "We are waiting for the post mortem report. It seems he was murdered. An unnatural death case has been initiated," said a police officer. However, the police said that the identity of the youth was still unknown. The investigators could not find any relevant documents from his pocket which could reveal his identity and residential address. His wallet probably got washed away in the pond. The local residents, however, said that the place requires strong police vigilance. Many such incidents have been taking place here. It may be recalled that a gold merchant was shot at on the National Highway 6 near Kolaghat. His body was found lying in a pool of blood. The local residents found the body and called the police. He was a jewellery shop owner and was shot by a robber.
