Imon might have killed himself after quarrel with girlfriend

Imon Dutta might have committed suicide after his relationship with his girlfriend deteriorated, police said. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim had been depressed after he found that his girlfriend was in another relationship.

On Thursday, the body of the engineering student Imon was found hanging at his friend's house in Kestopur. The victim, a 19-year-old boy, was found hanging from the ceiling. His friends broke the door to find his body. Imon was a student of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, situated near Ruby connector of Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. Imon came from Purulia's Diguripara and rented an accommodation adjacent to his engineering college.

Police have interrogated his girlfriend and four other friends in this connection so far and gathered some important information in this connection. The investigating officers are reluctant to divulge any further information till the completion of the investigation. Police came to know in the investigation that Imon developed a relationship with a girl who was staying in the city for studying. She is originally from Purulia.

In the course of investigation, police came to know that the victim boy used to spend most of his time with his close friends, who reside at Kestopur flat. He used to come to the flat when his body was found. On Thursday, he went to Salt Lake City Centre and some other places there. He told his friend that he was not feeling well and he should take rest. Later, he took the key from his friend and came to the Kestopur flat.

Imon was found hanging inside the house of one of his friends. Police said that the girl who was believed to be his girlfriend came to the house. The local residents told the police that they heard some quarrel in the room. Later, his body was found from inside the house. The police suspect that a quarrel broke out between the two after the girl had allegedly developed another relationship. The police are investigating the matter.
