Tribal woman's death in Haryana raises questions

Mystery shrouds the death of a tribal woman whose body was brought back to her native place in East Midnapore from Haryana on Tuesday night.
The victim, Saraswati Murmu was taken to Haryana by a local youth with the assurance of a job there. The victim used to talk to her family members over telephone but she never complained of anything. She used to tell them that she was earning a good income. But the incident has shaken her family members as they remain clueless as to how the victim died. They have lodged a complaint in the local police station against the accused youth, Subal Barikh. On the basis of the complaint, police have arrested the accused.
The local residents and the victim's family members alleged that she was murdered as they found injury marks on her head. Tension ran high at the village after the arrival of the body of the woman. The local people said that the body was brought back to her native place at Dantan in an ambulance directly from Haryana. The family members of the victim alleged that there must be some foulplay behind the incident and Barikh might be involved in the incident.
The local residents staged a demonstration in front of the house of the accused who resides in the same village. They demanded the arrest of the accused. After being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The demonstration was lifted after the senior police officers in the district assured them that stern action would be taken against the accused. The police managed to arrest the accused in this connection so far. Police are investigating if the accused was involved in any foulplay.
The investigating officers want to know from the accused where the victim was appointed and where she had been working for the past two years. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident.
